Awaiting Steve Perry's return, solo or with new group! The voice says it all!

SP doesn't look any older than Schon/Valory/Cain-they are all the same age within about 4 years. SP had the capacity to sing as a high tenor, which you heard all the songs Arnel covered that Perry co-wrote in the late 1970's/early 1980's. But he changed it up, and in Trial by Fire and his FTLOSM album in the 1990's, sang in a lower register. His voice, as demonstrated in tracks made with David Pack around 2004/2005 is still gorgeous-smoky, jazzy, bluesy, mature and still stunningly beautiful. Hope that all the reports this year about a new album coming out for SP are true-I'll be first in line. Arnel sings beautifully and Journey is lucky to have him, because since they didn't have Steve they couldn't do anything. However, I'll believe Journey is successful again only when they put out an album of ALL new music-no covers of Steve's songs-and it sells big. Last I looked, last month, none of the new music from Revelation had hit the charts-not a single one of the new songs. That said, I wish Arnel success-he has worked for it and has a young family to support. But I hope that Schon and company don't come to resent him the way they resented Perry-that even though they were talented they can't be commercially successful without a frontman. Hope he watches his back!

seen sp in the internet reviews, so sad he looks soooo old and dry, known journey for open arms song as sung by sp, the new journey with AP has really revived the sound of journey its bcoz the songs are now sang with a lot of soul and greater vocal power, sp voice is feminine compared to AP.

Is Steve Perry touring with them? I thought his health kept him out of the game.

This is all about Journey!!! They have always brought the ROCK!!

Formed in the mid-1970's by ex-Santana guitarist Neal Schon, Journey released three moderately successful jazz-influenced rock albums before hiring vocalist Steve Perry in 1977. That personnel change resulted in a musical shift towards a more pop oriented style, as immediately evidenced with Infinity and it's hit songs "Lights" and "Wheel In The Sky." The late '70s saw Journey become one of the most successful recording and touring acts in the U.S! Evolution and Departure were instant classics, each going instantly Platinum and yielding hits like "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" and "Any Way You Want It."

The second major personnel change occurred with the departure of keyboardist Gregg Rolie. His role was filled by ex-Babys member Jonathan Cain and the group recorded it's classic Escape album, which has sold over 9 million copies. The '80s were dominated by the Journey albums Frontiers, Raised On Radio and the best-selling Greatest Hits. 1996 saw a reunion of the Escape lineup and the Grammy-nominated Trial By Fire. Check out the new line of Classic Journey Albums Re-issued, in stores August 1st! Get your copy now!
