Born John Bailey in Culver City ,CA, he was the middle son to a single mother. At the age of 18, while attending college, he and a few friends started their own Record Label. After only a year, the label went defunct and J-Kiellz started his own label, Hater Pruuf Records. He has recently opened for Lil Webbie, D4L, Juvenile, Tha Big Tymers, Mr. Serv On, Luni Coleon, MC Eight, Snoop Dogg, The East Sidaz, Tone Loc, Coolio, Sir-Mix-Alot, Tech N9ine, Ruka Puff, Hoopz and so many more. With record sales in the upper 10,000's from mixtapes and his €œMy Life€ Vol. 1€? album, he has shown that he can sell without the major distribution and promotion that others get the luxury of having.
