Take off the tie, tear off the suit, toss out the desk and walk away from the practice of law. Music has been patiently tugging at your heart since you made her play second fiddle to your legal career and her sweetness has once again convinced you to come back. Return to your lifelong passion of writing, recording, and performing as a songwriter. That is what you were meant to do. This is where you belong.
This is me. Jeffery Vernon Strahan. I write songs, I sing, I play the guitar and the piano, and if you ask me, I’m Badass. I have a lifetime of experience that proves valuable to me every day. I’ve been a musician my entire life, but I have also been a devoted father, son, brother, husband, lover, friend, student, trial lawyer, counselor and TEXAN I’m not bitter or frustrated; I’m happy. I’m not a Saint and sometimes I’m a Sinner. I have a good heart which will hopefully get me in to heaven. I’m at peace. I write songs about life, death, and the absurdity of both. They are not country or rock, blues or gospel. Instead they are a melting pot of American roots music often referred to as Americana. Yea, I sometimes wish I had not put my musical dream on the back burner because I would be further up the ladder of success. But then I would not be who I am.
I have no doubt that everything in life happens for a reason. The roads that brought me here began in the little West Texas town of Lamesa where people are honest, loving, and hard working. The roads were twisted and turning and sometimes crazy, but here I am and I hope I brought some of the truth, love, and genuineness of my people with me. You are going to know my name, you are going to hear my music, and if you give me a chance you are going to like me. So take a chance; you will be glad you did.
