Jeff Bridges is undoubtedly primarily known for his illustrious acting career, which is more alive than ever after a 2011 Grammy nomination for his portrayal of Rooster Cogburn in True Grit. However, his previous Oscar win for Best Actor in Crazy Heart, and the talent he displayed as a vocalist and guitarist in the film, has reignited the actor's obscure music career. While Jeff Bridge's new self-titled album isn't due out until August 16, the quintet threat ( he's also a photographer, vintner, and doodler) already has a few scheduled tour dates in 2011.
Jeffrey Leon Bridges was born into a showbiz family that would soon become Hollywood royalty. His father, Lloyd Bridges and brother, Beau, are both celebrated actors and, from a young age, his mother Dorothy encouraged all her children to be creative. Jeff Bridges is best known for his work in movies like The Last Picture Show, Tron, The Contender, and his acclaimed role as "The Dude" in The Big Lebowski. While he had been nominated for Academy Awards before, his role as Otis "Bad" Blake in 2009's Crazy Heart finally won him the coveted Best Actor award and subsequently reignited his music career; that's right, reignited. Bridges previously released a 2000 album, Be Here Soon, containing a mixture of blues, rock, R&B, and country.
Country is exactly what fans will get on the actor's upcoming, self-titled album. The album will feature production from T-Bone Burnett and guest vocals from Roseanne Cash and Ryan Bingham. Bridges isn't waiting for the album to release to tour, as his 2011 tour dates are already underway. Coming up in July is an appearance in Phoenix on July 3, followed by a tour date at the American Thunder Music Festival on August 11. Jeff Bridges' scheduled tour dates in 2011 end on August 28, but more dates are bound to be added once the album releases, so check Eventful often.
