Bio

Jay Cee was born June 7,1988 to Lilibeth Ignacio and Jimmy Carrethers. He was baptized as Joseph Miguel Carrethers. Raised in Pittsburg CA he was brought up in a Christian home, music has always been apart of his life. He had his first performance at four years old, and he knew then that singing and dancing was the path he wanted to take. He would stop at nothing to get there. As he got older and matured he began to work and perfect his craft to the best of his ability. He was vocally influenced and inspired by vocalists such as Babyface, Jodeci, Boyz II Men, and R. Kelly. He knew entertaining people with his voice would one day become more than a dream. He soon developed an intense passion for dance in hopes of making him an all around entertainer. Artist such as Michael Jackson, Usher, and Ginuwine pushed the young Jay Cee to work even harder. By the time Jay Cee reached high school, he was writing and recording his own music. He worked after school and weekends as a choreographer at a dance studio to fund his studio time. Soon after high school it seemed like his hard work was beginning to pay off. He got his first taste of fame being featured on "High School Wifey" by Y.S. and Sony B.M.G. He loved performing live for an audience as well as being featured in the music video. It was that experience that confirmed Jay Cee's love for the music and the music industry. However due to lack of support and funding he was unable to promote himself in the necessary ways to become someone the music industry took seriously. In the year to follow, his life took an unfortunate turn in the wrong direction. Jay Cee was sentenced to a two year term in a California State Penitentiary. Since his release from incarceration Jay Cee's passion and determination has grown immensely. Now at the age of 23 years old he is actively working on perfecting his crafts and and sharpening his talents for the world to see.
