Heidi Raye is a 20 year old country singer/songwriter from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada. Heidi was born on April 8th, 1988, in Fort St. John BC, and moved to Dawson Creek after her first birthday. She was raised on a farm on the outskirts of Dawson Creek with her parents and two older brothers, where she grew up driving machinery and raising cattle, sheep, horses, Russian Wild Boars, goats and llamas. Her Father being a former competitor in rodeo events such as calf roping and team roping, and her Mother being a former barrel racer, Heidi was brought up riding horses and barrel racing as well; a true cowgirl <><><><><> After Heidi had mastered the skill of talking, she began singing. Entertaining a crowd came as second nature to her at a very young age. She grew up singing in church, and performed her first solo when she was only 3 years old. When she was 5, she began acting in school plays and musicals, and at age 6, began taking piano lessons. At age 13, she landed the role as “Annie” in a theater production “ANNIE”, which kick started her theatrical career. At this time, she began learning how to play the guitar and began writing songs. At age 14, she began taking dance lessons such as Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Musical Theatrical dance <><><><><> Heidi’s childhood was spent singing and performing and soon became known as the “Anthem Girl”. She was called upon to sing “O Canada” for the hockey games, rodeos, Relay for Life events, Air Shows, Bull Riding Finals, etc. She began entering contests such as talent shows and karaoke contests at age 8, and began expanding to contests outside of Dawson Creek soon after <><><><><> At age 13, Heidi was a semi finalist in the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) Talent Search in Vancouver, BC. When she was 15, she received a full scholarship to Courtney Youth Music Center for 4 weeks to perform in the Musical Theater production of “Evita”. She then returned to the PNE Talent Search when she was 16, and out of thousands of hopefuls, landed a spot as a semi finalist. When Heidi was 17, she auditioned for Canadian Idol and made it through the first 3 rounds in Edmonton, Alberta, and competed as a Top 100 semi finalist in Toronto, Ontario. In July, 2007, she spent 3 weeks in New York City and got accepted into a Theater Company, as well as received many other singing opportunities. In August, 2007, she competed in the adult division against thousands of entertainers for a spot at the PNE and placed as a semi finalist. In May 2008, Heidi placed in the semi finals for CMT’s Karaoke Star. On August 5, 2008, she along with her band, The Troubadours, opened for Legendary Country Superstar, Randy Travis, at the EnCana Events Center in Dawson Creek, BC to a nearly sold out crowd <><><><><> In June 2008, Heidi spent 2 weeks in Nashville, TN, where she performed in the Atlantic Music Group (now Signal Entertainment) CMA showcase as well as had many writing sessions with established writers <><><><><> Heidi has Grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music in Classical piano, plays the guitar, writes her own songs, and has recorded several demos. She has also recorded several Jingles for Radio Stations in BC, Canada <><><><><> Singing is not just something Heidi does in her spare time; her life in its entirety revolves around becoming the Country Music Entertainer she knows she can be. Outgoing, friendly, and always with a smile on her face, Heidi manages to get excellent grades in her schooling where she is currently in her third year of the Bachelor of Science in Registered Nursing Degree program. At age 17, Heidi received a $20,000 scholarship to attend the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George, BC, where she is currently located. She also started her third year of school with a 3.9 (84.5%) GPA <><><><><> Heidi has opened for Canadian recording artist, Tanya Wolf, and has performed with and opened for International recording artist, Jack Jackson, and opened for Grammy Award winning artist, Randy Travis <><><><><> Her second trip to Nashville was focused on the recording of her debut album, produced by Arlo Gilliam. Fans can await the release of her album to be in early 2009, and can expect to see her perform live shows throughout the summer. <><><><><> Enthusiastic and energetic performances are not all that fans enjoy about seeing Heidi perform live; they also enjoy her wholesome, down to earth personality. She loves her fans, and is always willing and eager to meet them. The passion Heidi feels for singing is very evident when she sings; she gets teary eyed when she sing's her heart felt ballads, and she can't wait to get the crowd involved when she steps it up for the hand-clappin', line-dancin', toe-tappin' songs. She performs as if each time she steps onto the stage is the most exciting time she's about to have, and the audience can tell through the excitement, little bit of sass, and of course, her smile, when she sings.
