GEN-XX

Although XX is considered to be the nomenclature of a female biological identity and XY the male counterpart, the significant question arises with regard to the way this nomenclature has recently been assigned to generational attributes, identified in terms of X and Y signification. The marking of genetic and generational boundaries such as Gen X and Gen Y or XX and XY continue to permeate the ways in which such codes enter everyday life.

To explicate humanity in the manifest form of a code is a further distancing of what was once universally considered sacred. Thus, flesh becomes an alphabet, to be patented, footnoted and archived. The body becomes an information base, an archive to be culturally mined.
