More details about Gene Gregory
Bio
When listening to the music of Gene Gregory one can easily realize and hear the various styles and genres that he has played or dabbled in, including heavy metal, psychedelic, progressive and classic rock. Gene put these sounds together in his very first band, Rainy Day Parade. Between 1989 to 1994, the efforts of Rainy Day Parade brought about the recording of two full length compilations: SBS & Rainy Day Parade. After the breakup of Rainy Day Parade, Gene decided to change his musical direction. The bass guitar and equipment were sold and he purchased an acoustic guitar.
This is the Gene Gregory that we know today, a performer whos music and lyrics are, inspired by artists such as John Lennon, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Gene Gregory has written over 100 songs and from 1997 to 1999, he re-emerged playing local bars and clubs with the newly formed band OellaBlue, a rock-funk trio. He started touring, playing various small venues and eventually found himself in Nashville recording Face Of A Clown & Axis with Art Ward at Nightingale Studios in 1999. In 2002 Gene hooked up with fellow Baltimoreans and long time friends, Wain Walker(Does It Meow), Dave Blimmel(VinylRhino) & Bryan Hughan(Gilmore) to form the band MonkeyDog. They recorded a three-song demo in 2003.
Currently, Gene plays solo acoustically and with various local musicians in bars and clubs throughout Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina and Pennsylvania. He has played at the The Recher Theater, opening for Colin Hay-Men At Work but there have been others. Most recently Gene Gregory appeared live on Low Country Live, ABC Channel 4, Charleston, South Carolina, were his music was given great reviews. In addition, Gene continues to participate in Charity events and volunteer his time for such causes as entertaining the soldiers and sailors serving our country.
