Bio
n the early 80s’, the French West Indies Island of Guadeloupe a.k.a. Gwada, gave birth to FLO, who was to become the first local female MC to mix styles and languages and create a unique voice for Hip Hop music. FLO reminisces falling in love with the art form in the early 90s’, essentially thanks to her brother Enigma, who introduced her to artists and groups such as A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Mos Def and Talib Kweli’s Blackstar. FLO and Enigma later formed a duo called Inkognitwo. During her high school years, FLO joined a rap group named D.S.I. (Dark Side Island). She developed her writing skills and fully touched the various elements of Hip Hop via DJing, Graffiti Art, and Break Dancing.

In 1999, FLO moved to France and continues to experiment with her flow. She performed at Student events, Sound systems, and local underground venues.

In 2001, FLO made her big move to the United States….The American journey definitely changed her life and opened up new horizon to her music. She released her first mixtape called “Aflowdiziak” with Orlando’s pioneer producer X=144 of Transparent Dark Production. FLO quickly seduced the American crowd with her style and exposed herself to numerous Colleges’ concerts, local shows, and open-mic venues. Juggling between Creole, French, and English FLO’s lyrics expend Hip Hop’s international concept.

In 2004 FLO scores a vibrant single on Exxos’ “Pass Di Rhum Riddim” Album, combining up and coming and established artists from the Caribbean like Admiral T, Krys, or Tiwony.

Early 2005, the infamous Karukera Sound System (KSS) of Guadeloupe invites FLO for the “Caribbean Sessions” Album, featuring the international sensation group Kassav’, and the original voice of Jamaica Tanya Stephens. FLO then moved to Miami, where she released a second mixtape entitled “The Lost Flows”, a Gwadayouth Entertainment production. Mixing Creole, French and English on carefully chosen beats, FLO revealed herself to South Florida. She notably collaborated with fellow Creole rapper Mecca a.k.a. Grimo on a mission to spread the Creole Hip Hop movement in the States.

FLO currently gets involved in the Floridian community, and thus has performed poetry and held motivational speeches in the Miami Dade Public School system. This fall, she is ready to release her third mixtape. “Free My Flow, The Mixtape” wil be her first all-English project, hence considered her official American debut. She is very excited about this one and explains that she’s eager to get lyrically closer to the American audience. FLO has been capitalizing on the mixtape market for some years but rest assured, her first commercial album is on the way, along with audacious future collaborations. STAY TUNED!
