    Bio
Since DubConscious’ inception in 2002, this dub reggae collective out of Athens, GA has created and maintained their place on the cusp of solution-based philosophy, social and environmental awareness, and the evolution of today's music. They are dedicated to spreading the word on sustainability, unity, and a greater understanding of the human experience through their music, their distinctive line of organic merchandise, and through being involved with such organizations as Rock the Earth, Wiser Earth, Hands On Atlanta, and Sustainable Waves. DubConscious often perform on solar stages and at festivals that support conscious and sustainable practices, and are committed to their own mantra of being the change they wish to see in the world. Their unique blend of dub, reggae, and afrobeat pays homage to such musical pioneers as Burning Spear, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Fela Kuti, and King Tubby and has been labeled as "music for the subconscious". DubConscious also successfully transcend their respective genres, as they often incorporate elements of r&b, hip hop, rock, spoken word, and electronica, making them a favorite amongst a diverse and rapidly growing fan base.

DubConscious have developed solid roots in the fertile music cradle of the southeast, and have since branched out. They have been performing to impressed audiences throughout the country at such venues and festivals as Bonnaroo, Reggae On the Rocks, 10,000 Lakes Festival, Langerado, Sweetwater 420 Festival, the Georgia Theatre (Athens, GA), the Fox Theatre (Boulder, CO), S.O.B.'s (New York, NY), and the Orange Peel (Asheville, NC). Whether they are opening for Michael Franti and Spearhead, Galactic, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse, Ziggy Marley, JJ Grey & Mofro, or Sound Tribe Sector Nine, or fans are enjoying an evening with, DubConscious deliver a positive and energetic live experience sure to move the feet as well as the mind. They have been featured and praised in a variety of media including BobMarley.com, JamBase, XM radio, college radio, NPR, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, and have been awarded Athens, GA's esteemed Flagpole Music Award for "Best World Music" in 2005, 2006, and 2007.

While they are no strangers to the road, DubConscious thrive in the studio just as well and have recorded five albums in as many years. Their debut, Word of Life was released in 2004 and their sophomore release, American Dream, in 2005. Realization, a double disc album released in 2006, was recorded at the legendary Tree Sound Studios and produced by Grammy Award winning producer Robert Hannon (Album of the Year, Outkast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below). Their EP titled Stereotype, released in 2007, was recorded at John Keane Studios in Athens, GA and also produced by Robert Hannon. In December 2007, DubConscious returned to Tree Sound Studios once again with Robert Hannon to record their most ambitious and artistic effort to date, NonViolent, set for release in early 2008. They will hit the road in support of NonViolent starting in late January 2008 with a highly anticipated show at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA, supported by Hands On Atlanta and the Martin Luther King Jr. Civil Rights Summit. DubConscious’ genuinely inspiring performances, coupled with their studio recordings, successfully harness the energy and powerful nature of the genres they exemplify, as well as ensure their indelible mark on social, conscious, and musical evolution for years to come.
