DOCTOR BIOGRAPHY

Doctor started MCing in the year 2000, when he was a member of a collective called Top Status. He, alongside fellow members including Drastic and DJ Teddy, dedicated their time to performing at house parties. That was until the crew met Mario – a guy who suggested they form a new group with additional members, Mega Montana and Seb Zero.
Subsequently, in 2003, Doctor and Drastic left Top Status and emerged with Mega and Seb to form a collective called the South Agents.
Since then, Doctor’s contribution to the music scene has been undeniable. His most recent achievements include his feature in six music videos, such as Com On (alongside Riko), Swingers (alongside Bearman, Shizzle and Nappa), and E Ska Project 1 (alongside Nikey S and Nikey).
The MC has also collaborated with a number of respected musicians, including DaVinChe and Soundbwoy Entertainment. Together, Doctor and Soundbwoy Ent spawned the 2006 MOBO nominated hit Never Gonna Say. The track reached number 18 in the UK charts.
As a solo act, Doctor has continued to hold his own. His remix to So Sick knocked original US singer Neo off the airwaves, while his debut single Gotta Man has been playlisted across various commercial and community stations such as Radio 1, Choice FM, Kiss FM, Rinse FM, BBC 1Xtra and many more.
Other projects include a new single featuring EC – the track has been signed to Smooth and is set for release in February 2007. Doctor’s recent mix tape, before Surgery, is also circulating among music fans, and features rap legend KRS-1.
Many are unaware that Doctor came to Britain from his hometown Jamaica in 1996 at the age of 11. The MC, now 21 and based in south-east London, used to walk six miles to and from his school, called Kendal in JA.
When he arrived in the UK, Doctor was inspired by artists such as Ludacris, Common Sense, Talib Kweli and Dizzie Rascal, and as a teenager he decided to pursue a music career – and he has never looked back.
However, Doctor’s sideline passions include football, art and cricket!
