On this first CD in 5 years, Cliff delivers 12 striking original songs with backing by a tight jazz combo that propels Cliff’s powerful voice and strong guitar with powerful new strength. Deftly combining his heavy pop and jazz influences, Cliff returns with songs of life and its many layers of experience- reaching out to many avid listeners. The High Above and the Down Below was a long time coming. After several years recovering from a near-fatal car accident, which resulted in 2 back surgeries and months of physical therapy, Cliff has returned to his writing renewed with a fresh perspective on the music he wanted to make. A driving force of the Greenwich Village New Folk movement and well known among his peers, Cliff’s songs have been covered by Richie Havens, Buffy St. Marie, Erasure, Lucy Kaplansky and the folk superstar band "Cry, Cry, Cry" (Dar Williams, Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky). Cliff is continuing to tour the US extensively in 2008 & 2009.
