Carmen and Camille: Songwriters. Musicians. Performers.

Carmen and Camille Thomas are Vancouver's hottest new pop/rock singing sensation. The feisty, part-Norwegian sisters come from a musical family and their parents recognized their talent at an early age and encouraged them to sing and pursue music. Always head strong, the girls resisted, determined to do things their own way – a choice that would later prove valuable and lead to rich life experiences that inspired a deep catalogue of songs and music.

The twins grew up in White Rock, BC, Canada, and when high school was finished decided to go their own ways. Carmen attended school for broadcast journalism, while Camille went to school for fashion design.

While in school for design, Camille began honing her song writing skills and eventually she made a life changing decision to leave fashion school and attend a college jazz-vocal program where she studied music theory, basic piano, and composition. Carmen, on the other hand, had gained recognition on a local sport-news television show, ‘Sport of Kings.’

In efforts to spend more time together, the girls made plans to travel when school was completed and instantly a life-changing journey was underway.

“It had been awhile since we had really connected; I thought what better way to celebrate the completion of our school and get reconnected than to travel together,” says Carmen, while Camille adds, “And that’s how our traveling plans began.”

The twins traveled to Thailand and Australia where they had an amazing time meeting people while living a life of freedom and adventure. After they returned home, they immediately began to collaborate on new songs fueled by their experiences abroad. They started recording material and even received a grant from the government to record their demos.

The talented duo quickly found management but realized something was missing. Throughout childhood and young adulthood the person whom they had always gone to for advice was their father, John Thomas. And so, joining the tradition of such family-managed acts as Jessica and Ashley Simpson, Beyonce Knowles, they asked him to become part of the team.

A few demos were sent out to record companies and immediately there was overwhelming, positive response. Soon the girls were off to New York to perform for record companies but with such quick response the girls had little time to prepare a live act. The trip proved to be the beginning of the next phase for the girls – they had proven that their songs could get them the attention they needed, but now the focus needed to be on the live show. Forming a band, they began playing rooms in Vancouver and surrounding areas such as The Arts Club, The Purple Onion, Crush, The Drink, The Roxy. They also began traveling, once again, to Los Angeles to work with writers and perform.

Soon the duo was noticed by Horatio and Jackie Kemeny who spotted the girls at an outdoor concert and fell in love with their music. With their support and backing, indie label TwinSpin Music was born and plans to make their first full length album began.

Since then Carmen and Camille have developed an impressive resume touring across California and Texas at venues such as The Knitting Factory, The Mint, San Diego State University, Speakeasy for The Texas Rockfest, Spill for The Red Gorilla Festival and many more. They also performed at The Moulin Rouge in Budapest, Hungary while filming their second music video for ‘How Deep Is The Water’. They have attended LA Fashion Week and filmed an episode of ‘Indie Pads’ for Music Plus TV where their video for the single ‘Lose My Voice’ is on rotation. They where chosen as featured artists on the upcoming Billboard Underground series for Billboard Magazine and will be featured in the June issue of Stuff Magazine. Good things ahead for these talented twins!
