More details about Breakers Broken
Bio
Breakers Broken is a young Chicago-based original rock band that wants you to smile, cry, sing, and dance. A live show's sound extends beyond a trio - the band mixes in elements of electronic music, has members switching instruments, and employs three-part harmonies, percussion breakdowns, and unexpected instrumental segways. Their mission is to truly put on a "show," and if you're a repeat customer, never fear! You can always expect something new to challenge your temporal lobes. A review from a sold out show at Martryr's describes the experience:
“I witnessed the following: mind-numbing solos reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughan by Tim Yamaya, younger brother Herf alternating from silky-smooth to the funkiest of funk slap bass lines, drummer Neal Wehman dousing himself and his drum set with water...”
- Chicago’s MODA Fashion Gazette
Breakers' performances have been around the block and out of town. They've played over 100 shows in the last two years - a two years that also included finishing school, recording a full length album and an EP, and moving back to their current homebase of Chicago. The shows they've played range from the glitter of Miami Beach clubs, to packed-in, beer-drenched fraternity and sorority parties at Big Ten colleges, to intimate live radio performances, and to the best venues Chicago and other Midwest cities have to offer. All this has been accomplished in a DIY environment, fueled by their determination and musicianship, as well as a clinical case of insomnia.
