Black Gold

black gold is the feeling when it hits your bloodstream, the unease at five a.m. after staying up all night doing things you regret but will do again and again. black gold is the taste of blinding white, the numbness on your lips and throat. black gold is the corrosion you've swallowed, with comforting warmth tempered by unease. black gold is the release that makes you hiss, gape and sing with us:

black gold is the new collaboration between Eric Ronick (Panic! at the Disco, Ambulance Ltd.), Than Luu (Rachel Yamagata, shushshush), Eugene (Lauren Hill, solo) and Benji Lysaght (Ambulance Ltd., Red Romance).

black gold formed at the beginning of 2006 while Eric and Than were on tour with Ambulance Ltd. and the Killers. After touring, they immediately set up at Thinman Studios in Brooklyn and began writing and recording. The band lineup was complete with the addition of Eugene (fresh from signing a solo deal with James Iha on Scratchie Records) and Benji Lysaght. The result is the Picture Show EP, an addictive collection of songs evoking T-Rex, Satie, Chic, Quincy Jones-era Michael Jackson, Bowie, the brothers Gibb and the Band.
