BIG DAVE

Since his release from Long Bay jail in 2005 KP Rekordz founder Big Dave has cemented himself as one of Australia’s most well known underground MC’s.

In recent years the big fella has built a solid following while making the transition from ex-crim and parolee to MC, label owner and community advocate.

Cheeky and straight to the point Big Dave draws on his life experience, his political views and the world around him, dropping reality raps for street level hip hop heads.

There’s no compromise and no holding back when Big Dave rocks the mic and he runs KP Rekordz the same way backed by mentor John Payne Senior Vice President of the legendry Death Row Records.

LIVE SETS

From MC battles early on in his career to clutching the mic around Australia, Big Dave has been a regular at both night club’s and larger venues like The Big Top Luna Park, The Roxy Theatre Parramtta and Prince Alfred Park (Earthdance festival 08).

Big Dave has toured nationally performing with international artists like De La Soul, The Outlawz, Kool Keith, Tim Dog and Marc Live. On top of these international acts Dave has also shared the bill with a deep list of Australia’s top hip hop act’s

COMMUNITY WORK

After facing some testing times in his life Big Dave has become a firm believer in helping those facing similar situations.

His treatment while in the NSW prison system led him to create The infamous “Behind The Walls” project that made national headlines and caused debate in parliament after letters detailing human rights abuses were smuggled out of Supermax prison and forwarded to the United Nations.

A kidnapping and growing up in a violent home where drugs and alcohol were common place inspired Big Dave to create and run “The Workshop program” a hip hop based course for troubled youth in the ACT run in conjunction with the Galilee School in Canberra.
