BARZ Hip hop, once used by individuals as a creative form of expression has somewhere down the line switched roles and has now became a breeding ground for gimmick rappers and dance instructors turned musicians. Instead of quality artist with quality music, we’re oversaturated with “plain old rappers”. Where’s the next great artist, the trendsetter? Who’s the next big hip hop musician that’s going leave their mark and be known as a great emcee? Eagerly awaiting his chance to answer this question is Midwest native J.Barz . Born and raised on the gritty streets of south side Chicago, Barz grew up like most kids from the inner city, surrounded by drugs, poverty and gangs. Having to deal with these issues daily he had no choice but to find an escape, and that escape was music. In high school he took his first step at becoming a musician in a talent show and since then he hasn’t looked back. Creativity, versatility, perseverance, and determination are a few words that describe Barz. Musically he brings the feeling of old school hip hop with a new school sound. Incorporating lyricism, flow, and a wide array of song concepts, Barz’s music should not be slept on! Not only is he a hip hop artist he’s also a song writer who’s capabilities range from R&B to pop. “I love all forms of music, I’m a fan of everything, from rock to reggae". Each genre teaches me something new and I try to incorporate what I’ve learned in my music”. His ability to switch up his style, cover different topics, and his overall view of music and life are a few things that’s sets him apart from the crowd. Its true Barz is underground now but he’s sure to make his mark. Not only an artist, he’s also an entrepreneur with his hands is fashion and film. Musically Barz is sure to make waves with his intricate flow and versatile song writing ability. Like a breathe of fresh air, Barz symbolizes the new movement in hip hop, creating a sound for a diverse audience while staying true to the essence of hip hop.
