Twangy vocals, a no-nonsense attitude, and hit country singles have made Ashton Shepherd one of country's up and comers. When she is not touring or producing music, she is farming the same land that her family has lived on for decades and raising her five-year-old son, James. The Coffeeville, Alabama native never had her sights on Nashville or pop-country. She began performing at local talent shows when she was five years old. She released her first album independently at age fifteen with financial help from her parents. She got her shot when she won a local Alabama contest in 2006 and was awarded the opening slot for country veteran Lorrie Morgan's local performance. At the concert, Shepherd was discovered by a scout for MCA Nashville and she was signed to a major label deal in 2007.

Ashton Shepherd was quick to release her debut single, "Takin' Off This Pain", which featured this sassy southern belle singing "I've got a cold beer in my right hand" on the chorus. She finally released her major label debut album Sounds So Good in 2008 and it immediately debuted in the top twenty of the country charts. In addition to the lead-off single, the album featured her second single "Sounds So Good", both of which reached the upper reaches on the country charts. The Wall Street Journal hailed her as a new Loretta Lynn with the Entertainment Weekly comparing her to Taylor Swift.

Ashton Sheperd is currently riding high on the country charts with her most recent single, "Look It Up". With a catchy hook and Sheperd's signature sassy rhymes, the single has raced up the country charts since its release. Sheperd is planning to release her sophomore set Where Country Grows in July 2011 off the buzz generated from the single.
