Bio
Based in Nashville, Tennessee, this band is like a breath of fresh air blending influences from all around the world. Their unique sound is a mixture of hard rock and blues blended with melodic world instrumentation, hard-hitting percussion, and screaming guitars amongst enveloping bass lines. Their stage presence is invigorating and captivating, bringing new energy to the already pumping music.
With every song a challenge at creating a new fusion of sound, you'll never find yourself lost in thought at one of these shows.
Blair is well-known for her incredibly metaphorical and thought-provoking lyrics as well as her instrumental versatility. A classically trained violist, Blair works to apply unique instrumentation to every song in order to fully take advantage of every song's potential. At a show you never know what the girl will pick up next, with experience ranging from guitar to keys to violin to sax. With a unique and gritty voice, Blair delivers a solid performance reminiscent of some of Rock's greatest femme-fatales, such as Janis Joplin, Dana Fuchs, Shirley Manson, and Dolores Mary O'Riordan Burton.
"Music is about transcending reality but yet making it, at the same time, more potent. So much just can't be told with a simple line-up of sounds. Our music is about the sins we find ourselves in, the coping, the existence. Every experience is unique so why settle for a soundtrack of the same song played with the words in just a different order? Your experience deserves better."
Funk, lead guitarist and resident hippy, is a Malaysia native. Playing guitar for over ten years he brings a wealth of sound, knowledge and raziness to the band. Funk follows the spirit of bohemia in all aspects of is life and is a proud migrant.
Joey is a Tennessee native with roots in Manchester. He owns a paint and body shop in Nashville where he beats on cars' dents when he's not beating on drum heads. With previous band experience, Joey lays down the slickest beats and completes the unique rock sound of Absinthe of Junk.
