A Beautiful Noise

a beautiful noise began with shonn simon and brent jackson back in 2001 in the skies above 5th and Hawthorn in san diego. Beginning with only a handful of songs, we soon found we had too many! Soon enlisting the talents of Jeremy Rather on drums, along with his sister Emily on keyboards we began to finely hone our sound. After an exhaustive search for bass, we finally came upon one Mani Garcia to fill in those duties. Several weeks later, a cellist was introduced to our sound, played by Lauren Niwinski. Thus completed a beautiful noise version 1. During this time the band performed all of it’s concerts as an instrumental act, while searching for a frontman to complete the projct. Shows in San Diego were very well received and soon after we headed to Los Angeles as well as Tijuana, Mexico, to spread our music to all who would listen.

After recording our first pro sessions in September of 2005, we lost Mani and Jeremy to other commitments and soon set out to find replacements.

During the ensuing year, we retreated once again to the skies above 5th and Hawthorn to write new material and find new talent. First we found Pete Moalli, a guitarist from Massachusetts who was new to town and had a great love for music and atmosphere. Next to come was Seth Darr on percussion, fresh out of a bug from Alaska. Soon the home at 5th and Hawthorn was empty and we moved into a new studio to begin rehearsing for new shows. After a long search we found Matthew Pierce to take over the bass duties, and a beautiful noise version 2 was finally complete. At this point, Shonn, Emily and Brent assumed vocal duties in the band after finding that a frontman was not what we were really looking for.

After a few shows throughout 2006, we headed back to Strate Sound in January of 2007 to record our debut EP.

In July of 2007, we saw the departure of Pete Moalli, in pursuit of higher education. And so begins the search for his replacement...
