Bio
The Merc Squad, a multi faceted rap group was formed in 1999. The group initially consisted of 5 members, but as time passed along, music stagnation and the decline of member’s personal commitment to the group’s music took place. The Members were forced to make tough decisions in order to survive and maintain the brand name.
The Merc Squad’s foundation has been maintained and continued by the landmark combination of Creeze (Corey Brown) and T.A.T (LaMont Jackson) originating out of Louisville, Ky. They are very confident and ambitious artists, each having their very own delivery of flow that unites to create a distinctive and refreshing sound. Their strong will power, heart to succeed, and ambitious outlook on life, have prepared them for greatness. Their strengths in song writing and production led to the creation of Dodge This Productions/Dodge This Publishing in late 1999.
The Merc Squad’s musical journey began in 2000 when they signed with Dark Circle Music located in Dallas, TX. While on Dark Circle’s roster of artists the Merc Squad performed at various large and small venues. They performed at the Low Rider Car show in Fort Worth, TX with Bobo Luciani, and Too Cold Syndicate. They also toured across Texas and Kentucky with Quint Black (Shake dem Hatas Off!), Short Dog Records/JIVE and Chocolate Bandit, formerly signed to Death Row Records. These are some of the highlights of their musical apprenticeship with Dark Circle Music. With the ending of their contractual obligations to Dark Circle Music, the Merc Squad left Dark Circle Music on amicable terms and decided to set out on their own, independently.
With more control over their musical content and marketing, the group decided to focus more on the production and publishing side of their company. Since setting out on their own, Merc Squad has wrote and recorded with various artists including Native/Black Ground, The Outlaws/Outlaw Records, TQ/ HUB Records, STAT QUO/ Shady/Aftermath, Slimm Thug/STAR TRAK, Mike Jones/Ice Age Records/Asylum, and Jacka of the MOBB FIGGAS/independent.We have been receiving positive feedback on our project traveling doing shows that are available We are currently getting record spins on several Internet radio stations, selected cities (radio one and clear channel) nightclubs in selected cities, 92.7 Freeze FM in London as well as spins in various West London clubs and also Germany nightclubs.
In a time where hip hop has become more and more commercial, The Merc Squad has prioritized their goals in an effort to establish themselves in the Music Industry as a brand name. With gritty street rhymes and social commentary they are set to become the entry foray of the Dodge This Production’s lineup of artists. Currently Merc Squad is a group comprised of 3 core members - Creeze, Eddie Roe, and Tat. This rap group has taken the traditional rock band approach by riding across country in a van performing and handing out free promotional material building one fan at a time.
