Against The Grain, his third release on the Divorce Records label, began as did his previous recordings, in the late night bus rides and on stages around the world. Unlike Legends Diner and Shame this record took two years working with a host of musicians, songwriters and co producers Clyde Brooks, Craig Bartock and Kurt Fries to create. Rick describes the process by saying, I have attempted all types of music and feels but I've mainly tried to get that perfect blend of country & rock. That's why I used Lance Morrison (Don Henley) and Matt Laug (Alanis Morisette) on the first album and did Shame in Texas with some of the guys from the Texas Tornados. You know that down home heartland feel of country with the thumping heartbeat of rock with a little blues and soul thrown in for good measure. For this CD my focus has been on really getting a uniformed sound and picking the perfect group of songs. I've also taken a lot more time and have been very hands on. So I can only hope as a Country fan or just a plain ole music fan you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it."

The project has already spawned two charting releases, single "I Remember The Music" written by Ashley Gorley and Wade Kirby and a haunting remake of the Allman Brothers classic "Midnight Rider". The video for Midnight Rider, a collection of snapshots from the road taken with Ricks own camera, debuting on the syndicated television show Extra and is still in rotation on CMT appearing often on Wide Open Country.

Just back from a series of shows in Europe, Rick has proven once again that country music is alive and well across then pond! Our tour took us thorough Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland and at each stop the venues were great and the crowds were so enthusiastic. It's also amazing how country music really breaks down the language barriers. Because country is the stories of our lives the lyrics are clear and it is easy for people to understand, no matter what language they speak.

The morning after one of our shows I was sitting in the sun on the patio at the hotel over looking the Swiss Alps thinking, I cant believe that I get paid to do this. Can't wait to go back next year.
