The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Dixie Wing is the Georgia chapter of the largest collection of WWII aircraft flying in the world today. Founded in 1987, the CAF Dixie Wing is a non-profit located at Falcon Field, Peachtree City, south of Atlanta Harstfield Jackson International Airport. The organization has restored and currently flies five WWII and Korean War-era aircraft, including a P-51 Mustang made famous by Chuck Yeager and the Tuskegee Airmen and a rare Douglas SBD Dauntless, one of only three flying today. The organization co-hosts "The Great Georgia Airshow" every October and participates in over 25 airshows and festivals annually. The CAF Dixie Wing Historical Airpower Facility includes a restoration and maintenance shop, displays of WWII artifacts, and a briefing room for meetings and special events. Public programs include a WWII history program and tours for schools and youth groups, flyovers for civic events, WWII living history interpretations and "Keep 'em Flying", an annual WWII-theme hangar dance, complete with 21-piece swing band and period costumes. The museum is open to the public free of charge. Tours are scheduled by appointment.
