Vroman's is proud to present an Out of the Book film premiere celebrating the release of State by State, a landmark collection featuring the reflections of 50 prominent authors and artists, each addressing a different state. The brainchild of editors Matt Weiland and Sean Wilsey, State by State resurrects a project from the 1930s, when the WPA created the Federal Writers' Project, commissioning America's best writers to describe their states. This 35-minute feature stars many of the book's most prominent contributors and will be screened in upwards of 100 cities and towns around America as the 2008 election approaches, serving as a catalyst for powerful conversation and personal connection in communities large and small. Starring Daphne Beal, Alison Bechdel, Charles Bock, Anthony Bourdain, Susan Choi, Joshua Ferris, Dagoberto Gilb, Myla Goldberg, John Hodgman, Heidi Julavits, Rick Moody, Susan Orlean, George Packer, David Rakoff, Saïd Sayrafiezadeh, Ellery Washington, Matt Weiland and Sean Wilsey; each speaks on a state near and dear to their heart, and the film features original music composed and performed by Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney
