Event details: Salsa Dance Class (Beginner)
Description
Location: Winnett Lounge
Salcita, the Caltech Salsa Club, offers weekly salsa classes that teach salsa rhythms, partner skills, Cuban rueda, and more. No special attire or partner is necessary.
Beginner class is taught from 7 to 8 p.m. and introduces you to the rhythm and timing of the music, as well as the technique of leading and following. Instructors Arlene and Chris will teach you how to dance with any partner as they stress the importance of salsa as a social dance. Their comedic teaching technique is very down to earth and easy to follow, making their classes an enjoyable experience for students of all levels. After class, there is a free practice session from 8 to 8:30 p.m.; all levels of dancers are welcome.
For individuals affiliated with Caltech/JPL/PCC, the fee is $7 per class ($25 for a five-class card), and for those not affiliated, the fee is $10 per class ($45 for a five-class card).
