My new year's resolution is to find undiscovered snowshoe territory!!!:) I don't know if I can beat my last trip - good weather and at least a 5 foot base of snow at Jones Pass - but here goes. We will be hiking around and up Evans mountain until we hit treeline. We will be carving our own trail through deep snow and start the new year by burning 800 calories per hour. This snowshoe trip will be carving through trees, through uneven terrain, up steep areas and hopefully find an opening in the Mount Evans wilderness to see the surrounding scenes. Watch out for deer and elk poop! This event is all day. We usually get home before 4pm. This is an intermediate/advance event. I am asked all the time how to get in snowshoe shape to do adventurous events like these. Athletes who are trail runners, road bikers, mountain bikers, hike 14ers, cross country skiers, swimmers and/or other sports that combine power and cardio together. DISTANCE: 10-12 miles roundtrip START 10,000+ feet, END 11,500+ feet LEVEL: ADVANCED Ground Rules for this event: 1) This event is for adults only(21 and over). 2) Those who sign up and do not attend will be eliminated from the group. You have to be absolutely, positively sure that you can attend these events. There are no "Maybe's" to these events. 3) Those who are athletic. 4) 10 people total for this trip.
