BMA PRODUCT MARKETING & MANAGEMENT RT: Leveraging 'Crowdsourcing' at Scott's Seafood
Crowdsourcing is an awesome new resource for marketers and
product managers to innovate new products and execute winning &
engaging marketing strategies. Wikipedia defines Crowdsourcing as
a distributed problem-solving and production model. Problems are
broadcast to an unknown group of solvers in the form of an open
call for solutions. Users---also known as the crowd---typically
form into online communities and the crowd submits solutions. In
a product and marketing innovation context, it is fast becoming a
hot new concept that leverages Cloud Computing to help you
innovate and market in a competitively differentiated yet
enormously cost efficient way!
Perhaps the simplest way to think about it is how YouTube,
Wikipedia, Facebook, Twitter, and others are leveraging the crowd
to create content, community---and---value. A more explicit
example involves Netflix, which recently ran an open competition
(grand prize of $1,000,000) for the best collaborative filtering
algorithm that predicts user ratings for films, based on previous
ratings. During this session, the speakers will share key
concepts of how to apply Crowdsourcing. They will share case
studies of what various companies are doing to leverage this new
resource to better capture market share, increase margins,
innovate brand new product offerings, and more. Case studies will
include global brands, financial services, technology services,
green tech, franchising, customer acquisition cost reduction,
brand measurement and analysis, and more.
So what does this mean for you and how can you use Crowdsourcing?
Come and find out at this exciting roundtable!
