Lunch Time Book Club "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle (Week #2)

Join our "New Earth" 10-week book club! Week 2: Important... be sure to read "Chapter 2" before this week's book club meeting. We meet every Monday for 10 weeks from 11:45am to 1pm for a "no host" lunch to discuss, share, expand, motivate and inspire each other about what we read and our application and intrepretation of it in an intimate, uplifting setting. Dawn facilitates the book club each Monday at the Denny's in Thousand Palms/Rancho Mirage (near Agua Caliente Casino) and the good news is that it's FREE! You don't have to order anything other than a refreshment, but to entice you, Denny's has extended 20% OFF to our group with split checks for ease. Since it's during the lunch hour, come for as long as you can, but if you arrive after we start, please enter quietly. We are meeting in a back private area so we can speak freely without distraction. The book selection is... So in addition to reading on your own, Oprah has a weekly exercise posted on her website and a video webcast that you can also do in between our weekly get togethers to help digest and re-enforce what you are reading. Then when we get together we can further discuss what we are learning and how it's impacting our lives directly. Description: Building on the astonishing success of The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle presents readers with an honest look at the current state of humanity: He implores us to see and accept that this state, which is based on an erroneous identification with the egoic mind, is one of dangerous insanity. Tolle tells us there is good news, however. There is an alternative to this potentially dire situation. Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates.
