Day Trip to Quartzsite, AZ Gem & Mineral Show

Each year Quartzside, Arizona is home to the Gem & Mineral Show. Quartzsite, in western Arizona, just 20 miles east of the Colorado River on I-10 (130 miles from Palm Desert), Quartzsite has been a rockhound's paradise since the 1960s. These days, it is also a mecca to well over a million visitors each year, most of whom converge on this small town in a wave of RVs during January. At this time of the year, 2,000 vendors of rocks, gems, minerals, fossils and everything else imaginable create one of the world's largest open air flea markets in Quartzsite. I was just thinking of driving out and back the same day since it's under 2 hours away, but if anyone has an RV and would like to offer to take it to camp overnight, I can research prices for RV parking. I don't mind driving, but my car is small, so can only fit 2 adults comfortably. If you have a larger vehicle that holds more people, but don't like to drive long distances, I can offer to drive for you. We can split the cost for gas.
