Description

Everything about the Orpheum Theater in Omaha -- from the gilded, classically styled box office to the beautifully lit Slosburg Hall -- exudes elegance. The Orpheum's classic design provides an almost royal atmosphere in which to view the theater's schedule of musicians, dancers, and Broadway plays like Jersey Boys. The theater has become a historic cornerstone in downtown Omaha's nightlife, as well as a popular destination for performers that won't play anywhere else in Nebraska.

The Orpheum Theater was built in 1895 and originally an ordinary playhouse called the Creighton Theater before being converted to a vaudeville theater called The Creighton Orpheum in 1906. The theater was rebuilt in 1927 and began to schedule movies in the early 40s due to the steady decline of vaudeville. However, the movie theater also experienced a decline and closed in 1971 before being bought by Omaha's performing arts groups a year later and renovated into a first class performing arts theater. The Orpheum has received a few more renovations since then, transforming the theater into the magnificent venue that exists today.

The Orpheum Theater's schedule of upcoming performers is full of hit musicians and the hit Broadway play, Jersey Boys. As one of the finest theaters in the country, audiences would be crazy to miss a single event at the Orpheum Theater.
