Course details NWUK COMMUNITY / ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR 1 day entry level course. This course is for those leading community project walks or acting as assistants to NWUK Nordic and Fitness Walking Instructors. It covers the background and benefits of Nordic Walking and how to develop the technique in order to incorporate the whole body in accordance with the ability of the participant. Safe walking with poles, fault correction, route planning, leadership skills, health and Safety and how to warm up and cool down are all included. ASSESSMENT Candidates are assessed practically and are expected to be able to demonstrate good personal Nordic Walking technique and host an example of a basic Nordic Walking class including warm up and cool down. Upon successful completion of the above criteria the candidate will be awarded the NWUK Community Instructor certificate and be fully licensed to teach under the guidance of a NWUK Nordic and Fitness walking Instructor or under a community project. PREREQUISITES Ideally either Walk leader or Outdoor Activity experience although those from all backgrounds are welcome. COST :- ã135 CYQ NORDIC and FITNESS WALKING INSTRUCTOR - (16 REPS points) 2 day full CYQ Instructor qualification - Internationally recognised For those with current fitness ( minimum REPs level 2 or the NEW On line NWUK Exercise and Fitness knowledge module - see below) this course explores the benefits and background of Nordic Walking and its application at all levels from Health promotion through to Sports specific. Correct Nordic Walking technique, how to develop it according to the needs of each client and how to add resistance and drills to your sessions. Other elements are Route planning, Outdoor Health and Safety and Leadership skills. ASSESSMENT Candidates are assessed practically throughout the course and are expected to demonstrate good personal Nordic Walking technique and to understand how to adapt its delivery in order to facilitate wellness, weight loss and advanced fitness training. Candidates will be required to attend an assessment day where they will present and teach a full lesson plan. The course carries 16 REPs CPD points. Upon successful completion of the above criteria the candidate will be awarded the CYQ NORDIC and FITNESS WALKING Instructor certificate and be fully licensed to teach Nordic Walking and use it for fitness prescription and the delivery of full Nordic Walking UK programmes under the NWUK Brand. PREREQUISITES NWUK Exercise and Fitness knowledge module or Minimum REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) level 2, GPs, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Cardiac Nurse (with experience in the delivery of physical activity programmes)or similar can sit the EFK paper (see below) COST :- ã335 ASSESSMENT DAY ã115.00 NEW - ON LINE EXERCISE & FITNESS KNOWLEDGE MODULE (EFK) For those with no fitness qualifications but a desire to take the full Nordic and Fitness Instructor qualifications we can now offer an on line ( or tutored) course that covers Anatomy and Physiology and basic Exercise and Fitness knowledge. This is an entry level qualification for those seeking a career in the fitness/wellness Industry and looking to help others become more active. The cost includes a 1 Day CYQ Assessment.
