Edible Plant Identification

Saturday, July 31 @ 9:00am, Edible Plant Identification!; There is an abundance of edible plant life in Utah. You just need to know what it is and how to prepare it. In this three part hike we will learn about some of the most easily identifiable plants. Our own Indian Trail provides several altitudes and environments to learn about many of them. We will be hiking from the 22nd Street trailhead to the Indian Trail trailhead in Ogden Canyon so plan to car pool and park one car in Ogden Canyon at the Indian Trail trailhead and the other at our starting point (22nd Street). This is a 4.3 mile, moderate hike and takes anywhere from 2 � to 6 hours depending on the abilities of the hikers in the group. So bring plenty of water and maybe a snack.Our leader, Michelle, highly recommends the book Edible and Medicinal Plants of the West by Gregory L. Tilford. It is not required to attend and Michelle will bring a copy that you can look over if you like. It has actual photos and very good instruction. We will not be eating anything on the hike, this is identification only. We will start on time to get off the front face of the mountain before the heat hits so please be punctual.
