“The Legacy of Augustine” with Fr. Tom Herbst, OFM

It has been said that there are three great founders of Christianity as we understand it, Jesus, St. Paul and St. Augustine. Although St. Augustine’s life spanned the peak and fall of the Christian Roman Empire, he remains uncannily relevant in the Modern Era and has been described, somewhat facetiously, as the ‘first modern man’.
In this six-week course Fr. Tom will explore the thought of St. Augustine, not as a static relic of the Christian past, but as a dynamic and evolving legacy-often controversial-that shaped the Christian experience for nearly two millennia.
Course material will cover the following aspects of Augustine’s legacy:
His shattering conversion, divine illumination, philosophical foundations and his encounters with heresies, sin, free will and grace.
Sessions begin at 10:00 am and will be repeated again at 7:00 pm.
Suggested donation $10.00 per session or $45.00 when you register for all 6 sessions
