Description
The walk will go across and along the South Platte River, through parks, and past a variety of architecturally historic homes. The walk goes past the Museum for Children, Lincoln County Sheriff's Dept., North Platte Police Dept, Lincoln County Courthouse, Sioux Lookout Statue, and the downtown business area. It goes to the site of the North Platte Canteen along the Union Pacific railroad main line (where over 6 million G.I.'s were hosted by the local citizenry in WW2 as they passed through North Platte). Complete this interesting walk by viewing historic old St. Mary's Hospital, Neville Center (original Fox Theatre), Pawnee Hotel, and Fire Station. The Lincoln Highway is on the route. Primarily on paved walkways, sidewalks, and streets. Daily Dawn to Dusk.
