Blast from the Past at The Charleston Music Hall

Cost: Payment required - Ticket Prices: Adults $32.50 Seniors $29.50 Military Discount $29.50 Groups of 15 or more $26.50 Students w/ID $22.50 Kids 12 and under $19.50 (plus $2 Etix fee)
Brad and Jennifer Moranz present “Blast from the Past-an original rock and roll musical” March 19-21 for 4 performances at the Charleston Music Hall. Written by Brad Moranz, the story can best be described as “Little Shop of Horrors meets Superman meets Field of Dreams meets Back to the Future!” and features some of the biggest hit songs from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. It all takes place at an oldies record store (named Blast from the Past) which is run by a middle aged hippie couple (Brad and Jenny!) and their “daughter” Suzie. When a freak meteor storm bombards the record store, Suzie is exposed to the radiation, along with all the records in the store, which suddenly brings the records to hilarious life. Before you know it, Tom Jones and Frankie Valle are competing for Suzie’s love, Austin Powers is hitting on Mom, Dad has joined the Village People, and Elvis just wants people to stay off his blue suede shoes. When the bank calls to foreclose on the mortgage to the store, Mom rushes to the kitchen to bake a cake, leaving only Suzie to figure out a way to save the store. With the help of the Professor (Doc from Back to the Future), they plan a concert to raise money using the singers who have come to life. But, when the effects of the meteors suddenly wear off, all the singers disappear-vanishing “into the corn field”. Now, just when it looks like all hope is lost, a miracle happens-Act 2!

The cast of “Blast from the Past” includes singers Johnny Fortuno(Elvis from Legends in Las Vegas), Casey Thompson(Today Show Talent Search finalist), Michael Minor, Brandon Cusma, Amy Banks, Shannon Kuanfung, Todd Adamson, Jeremy Jonet, along with dancers Karen Bellush, Kristin Altfather, and Kedrick Pasley. The live band onstage is led by Tommy Gill on piano, and features Wayne Mitchum on bass, Jay Miley on guitar, Ron Wiltrout on drums, and Robbi Kenney on synthesizer. Set design is by Dany Kapp, lighting design by Adam Stover, and sound design by Lynn Murphy.
