THE VALLEY’S OWN NAIA KETE TO CELEBRATE THE RELEASE OF “LAND UPON A STAR” AT THE IRON HORSE IN NORTHAMPTON NOVEMBER 18TH!

Naia Kete, singer/songwriter and rising star, will be releasing her latest album "Land Upon A Star" November 18th at the Iron Horse in Northampton MA. Naia's voice flows with a lyrical maturity and precision that conjures images of the great soul divas. If you caught her this summer at the Green River Festival or Taste of Amherst, you know this show is not to be missed.

Naia Kete's music is a personal/political soul-trip. As grounded and articulate as it is emotive, powered by the guitar and voice of this blossoming young visionary. She writes her music from a place of pure passion. The true spark of Naia is she calls for a revolution through action not fistfights, seeks empowerment irreverent of race, is inspirational and does not exclude.

Naia comes from a pure roots musical uprising that she’s been imbibing in since she could breathe. Music and dance found her. Her first memorable conversation with humanity was traveling to West Africa with her parent’s band Black Rebels and performing in front of more than 30,000 people. She was 8 years old and standing up in a global community. Since then, she's been touring, playing festivals, colleges, universities, clubs, cafes, planting seeds on the entire eastern border of the United States and across to the West Coast.

On Kete’s latest release, “Land Upon a Star”, she wrestles with the insanity in the choices people make in their daily lives. That one child, a young teenage woman, could herself demonstrate transcendence of human suffering and allow herself to express musically the pinnacles of understanding is an act of spiritual self confidence. On this new CD, she moves you like infinite sky to tell the stories and sing about what is invisible With her shared awakening to greater truths, she rededicates herself to love over and over again.

When Kete was in the sixth grade, her teacher, who has a reputation for being one of the most passionate and brilliant educators, looked Naia’s mother straight in the eyes and said with absolute conviction, “Naia doesn’t adhere to standards. She raises them. The community rises to her.” In a world where a woman’s image is too often carbon copied, Naia Kete changes the definitions of beauty and creative empowerment and people want to move with her. To choose the truth, to choose awakening, the fashioning of oneself as an instrument, being Human, to choose love, to make music could require courage in today’s world of contrasts. Kete lives that life in utter grace.

Naia is available for interviews. Please contact Justin Brown at public emily at justin@publicemily.com or 413-585-5111 for a review copy, photos or more information.
