Description
Northampton: Professsor Joel Pitchon of the Smith College music faculty leads a Talk/Concert/Discussion on the slow movement of Franz Schubert’s great C Major Cello Quintet on Sunday, November 8 at 4 p.m. in Earle Recital Hall, at Smith College. The work, that has long been a favorite of chamber music lovers, was composed in 1828, two months before his death, and is the only full-fledged string quintet in Schubert’s body of work. Professor Pitchon will speak about the work, and then the movement will be performed, followed by a discussion with the audience. Performers include: Joel Pitchon and Joana Genova, violins; Ariel Rudiakov, viola; Volcy Pelletier and Ronald Feldman, cellos. The event is free and open to the public.
