It has been 100 years since Sergei Rachmaninoff made his debut in the United States here at Smith College (November, 1909). This fall Smith celebrates this anniversary with two consecutive Rachmaninoff concerts in Sweeney Concert Hall. What: Back-to-Back Concerts Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Debut in America at Smith College
When: Friday, November 6, 8 p.m. and Saturday, November 7, 8 p.m.
Where: Sweeney Concert Hall, Sage Hall, Smith College, Northampton; Mass
Tickets: Admission is free

November 6, 8 p.m. Rachmaninoff in Songs and Dances features the Smith College Chamber Singers, Jonathan Hirsh, conductor and Grant Moss, piano, performing Rachmaninoff's Songs for Treble Voices, Opus 15. Pianist Elizabeth Joy Roe and Judith Gordon will play suite No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 17. Also featured are Karen Smith Emerson, soprano and pianist Clifton J. Noble Jr.
November 7, 7:30 p.m. Dedication of bust of Rachmaninoff; 8 p.m. Concert featuring pianist Vladimir Tropp, Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and Moscow Conservatory musician.
