Description
As part of a city-wide commemoration marking the 50th anniversary of the end of 'massive resistance,' the exhibition highlights this period in national history by chronologically displaying photographs, documents, and clippings of the people and places that forever changed Norfolk's Public Schools. 50 Years Later: The Lessons of Massive Resistance tells the story of the reopening of schools in Norfolk after Governor Lindsay Almond closed them rather than agree to court ordered desegregation.
