Description
Glass in all its glory is on view at downtown Brooklyn's UrbanGlass studio, from the wall-of-glass lobby to the window wall, which allows viewers to watch neon-bending and lamp working. Originally called the New York Experimental Glass Workshop, UrbanGlass is an international center for the creation and appreciation of new art made of glass. It is the largest glassworking studio in the world, occupying 17,000 square feet, and is open to any qualified artist who wants to rent time and equipment there. Visitors to the studio may watch glass being blown, see the most delightful products of those efforts in the studio's Robert Lehman Gallery of Contemporary Glass or purchase newly blown glass art in the gift shop.
