The Cloistersâ"Metropolitan Museum of Art
A branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Cloisters is devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. Opened in 1938, this modern structure incorporates elements of five medieval buildings dating from the 12th through the 15th centuries. Its rare works include sculptures, the famed Unicorn Tapestries, and illuminated manuscripts and paintings.
