Shell's CD Release Party featuring The Jose James Quartet

Over the past year and a half, soul-groove collective, SHELL, has been steadily gaining momentum on the NYC scene. With an original blend of R&B and world-fusion, the group, which is comprised of 3 female vocalists, bass, drums, keys and saxophone, creates a unique and enticing sound that's on full display during their live performances. Their innovative and undeniably soulful music has helped the group gain recognition and a nascent following throughout the city. The band will take the stage at The Baggot Inn to celebrate the release of their debut self-titled EP, SHELL.

Opening act, Jose James, is a Brownswood Recordings artist, his debut album "The Dreamer" set for release in January 2008. He has performed across Europe and the U.S., receiving sky-high praise and dedicated fans of his soulful yet refreshingly authentic jazz sound. Compared with singers like Jon Lucien and Terry Callier, James' songbook draws on composers from Wayne Shorter to John Coltrane to Freestyle Fellowship. He and his quartet will be fresh off a European tour in support of his new album.
