Description
New York Voices is the Grammy Award winning vocal ensemble renowned for their excellence in jazz and the art of group singing. Like the great vocal groups that have come before, such as Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, Singers Unlimited, Manhattan Transfer and Take 6, they have learned from the best and taken the art form to new levels. Their interests are rooted in jazz, however Brazilian, r & b, classical, and pop influences are often included with equal creativity and authenticity.

When the original Birdland opened fifty one years ago in December, 1949, Charlie Parker was the headliner and the club was located on Broadway, a few blocks west of 52nd Street, which was a hotbed of jazz in the 1930s and 40s. For the next fifteen years, the club s survival formula was built upon memorable double and triple bills, commencing at 9 p.m. and sometimes lasting til dawn.Post a Countdown Widget
