- Orchestral and original and raw all good words to describe the music of Sydney band Mercy Arms. The band has just released their debut album independently in Australia and it has been received as one of the years best. Dark and romantic the album is defined by the shimmering guitars of Kirin J Callinan and the poetic vocals of Thom Moore. The album was produce by studio recluse Tony Cohen, most regarded for his work with the Birthday Party, Bad Seeds, and Dirty Thee. The band is currently touring the UK with acts including Cut Copy and Ladyhawke. They have toured Australia recently with The Strokes and The Pixies. Their first international release is a Dave Sitek produce single coming out February â09 through UK label Loog Records.

- In an era when music has been bastardized into so many micro-genres that nearly every new band traces back to an obvious musical niche, precursor, or dominating influence, it's refreshing to say that I've never heard anything quite like M-Lab before. In fusing together elements of progressive rock, piano-based pop and theatricality, this unique quintet has created a sound all its own." - Jason Warburg, The Daily Vault
