Maron's warm sound, inventive basslines and old-school funk have caught the attention of many; he has been featured in Bass Player Magazine numerous times, and was included in 'Brave New Bass,' a collection of interviews with today's top players.

Genji Siraisi - Drums

Composer, producer, programmer, and performer, Genji Siraisi is a rhythmic jack of all trades. His drumming is driving, yet deep in the pocket. Touches of jazz and world rhythms are ever present in his style. His playing lays the foundation and back beat for Groove Collective's tight knit brand of funk. Genji's refined touch is reminiscent of true old-school groove masters, such as James Brown's Clyde Stubblefield or Grant Green's Idris Muhammad. Genji has worked in the studio with notables such as Masters at Work, Digital Underground and Naked Music and produced records for Warner Bros. London/Payday and Giant Step among others. When not playing with Groove Collective, Genji also stays busy composing for documentaries and short films, and his music has appeared on major television networks such as TBS and Comedy Central.

More about Blue Note
Blue Note
Regarding the Jazz scene in New York City, one of the Blue Note s managers matter of factly told us This is it. Indeed, the Blue Note is arguably the world s most popular jazz club. Although the club only opened their doors in the early 80 s, it has the feel of a longtime veteran in the New York Jazz scene. Once you get over the commercial feel of the joint, including its gold plaque embedded tables, mediocre meals named after jazz songs, and overpriced gift shop, the Blue Note is truly among the best of its kind. Expect to see world renowned talent on any given day except for Mondays, which is reserved for exceptional local talent. Show times are 9 00 and 11 30 during the week and additional Sunday matinees at 1 00 PM and 3 30 PM. Check the schedule link for show details.
