ROOTS REGGAE BAND GROUNDATION COMES TO NYC!!! GROUNDATION has truly become a worldwide movement. Incorporating a unique blend of reggae, jazz, and dub Groundation has created a global community of fans that continues to grow. Their live shows are bursting with energy and improvisation. In the past two years, Groundation has played shows in nineteen countries spanning four continents. Highlights include playing for over 45,000 fans in Morocco, 10,000 people in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and 15,000 during a headlining spot at SummerJam in Germany! Groundation
Groundation was formed at the Jazz Program on the campus of Sonoma State University in the fall of 1998 by Marcus Urani (Piano/Keys/Organ), Ryan Newman (Bass) & Harrison Stafford (Vocals/Guitar). It was at university that the core of the group honed their musicianship as well as their worldly outlook. It was there that Stafford taught the first California-accredited class on the History and Culture of Reggae Music. In 2000 they added David Chachere, a San Francisco based Jazz trumpeter, and Kelsey Howard, fellow SSU alum and North Bay trombone player, to the line up.
