Accompanying the International Center of Photography's exhibition "Dress Codes: The Third ICP Triennial of Photography and Video"
Join ICP Triennial artist Milagros de la Torre and ICP Associate Curator Kristen Lubben for a discussion of her work.
Milagros de la Torre is a Peruvian photographer based in New York and Mexico City. In her quietly powerful still-life photographs, de la Torre evokes issues of violence and memory. De la Torre's recent series Bulletproof is included in Dress Codes: The Third ICP Triennial of Photography and Video, on view through January 17, 2010. Following a visual presentation by the artist, ICP Associate Curator Kristen Lubben and NYU Assistant Professor of Art History and Museum Studies Miriam Basilio will join de la Torre in a discussion that explores the complex issues raised by this rich and varied body of work.
Kristen Lubben, ICP Associate Curator, has been a member of the curatorial staff since 1998. In that time, she has organized such exhibitions as Gerda Taro; Francesc Torres: Dark Is the Room Where We Sleep; Amelia Earhart: Image and Icon; El Salvador: Work of Thirty Photographers; Time of Change: Bruce Davidson, Civil Rights Photographs, 1961–65; and the 2008 exhibition Susan Meiselas: In History.
