Description
Early one beautiful spring morning in April 1985, Donald Malloy jr., arrived in the world. Growing up in a suburb of Cleveland Ohio, Donald graduated from Cleveland Hts. High school. During his jr. and sr. year in high school, at the age of sixteen, Donald attended Cuyahoga community college as a post secondary student, in the Tri C Jazz Studies program. His passion for the trumpet began at the age of ten. At the age of fourteen, his musical journey began with lessons from the phenomenal Kenny Davis. His skills as a trumpeter continued to develop with the assistance of Steve Enos at Tri C, where Donald became an asset to the Tri C Excellence in music program. With a sound that could only come from a new and rising young jazz master, Donald has won scholarships to Berkley College of Music and the well known Oberlin Conservatory of Music. In the fall of 2003, Donald enrolled at Oberlin College to continue his journey as a musician. Over the next three years, Donald continued to advanced his studies with; Kenny Davis, Gary Barts, Donald Byrd, Marcus Belgrave and Wendell Logan. Along this journey, Donald has had the pleasure and honor to share the stage with; Mya Angelou, Terence Blanchard, Nicolas Payton, Rodney Whitaker, Derrick Gardner, Vincent Gardner, Greg Bandy, John and Jeff Clayton and George Benson. Leading his own jazz ensemble; The Donald Malloy Jr. Quartet/Quintet, have performed throughout the greater Cleveland area, in hot spots such as; Night Town, The Bop Stop, Fat Fish Blue, The Robins Nest and the Cleveland Zoo. Donald also co-leads the two trumpets quintet; Two of a Kind, with fellow trumpeter; Curtis Taylor. Two of a Kind has performed in the greater Cleveland area at The Bop Stop and Night Town, as well as neighboring cities, Detroit and Pittsburg. This unique ensemble has been recognized by the movie industry, and can be heard in the movie; Man Cry, playing Donalds composition; Stark Winters. Donald has also had the honor of working with The Jazz Heritage Orchestra, in which he composed; The Spirit of New Orleans, which is a four movement suite dedicated to the people of that infamous city. May of 2006, Donald Malloy jr. graduated with a bachelor degree in music from Oberlin College, and has been accepted at Rutgers University where he will continue to follow his destiny as a master jazz artist

Garage Restaurant
The building was established in the 1920's as an automobile garage. The Garage logo is derived from the original mosaic embedded in the front of the building. In the 1940's and 50's, the space was called The Nut Club, a cabaret that was a forerunner of the comedy clubs of today, with entertainers such as Jackie Gleason performing on stage. From 1969 to the early 1990's the Circle Repertory Company, an off-Broadway theater troupe, used the space as their theater (featuring early performances by actors Danny Aiello, Alec Baldwin, William Hurt and Demi Moore). On June 14, 1995, Garage opened to rave reviews.
