Daniel Levin's Black Bear brings together the powerful forces of Jim Hobbs (alto sax), Daniel Levin (cello), Joe Morris (bass) and Gerald Cleaver (drums) in freewheeling, dynamic improvisation. Levin's compositions for the band provide just enough structure to serve as launching pads for riveting, virtuosic, and soulful conversations between the musicians that range from poignant and beautiful to raucous and swinging.
