Description
Candace DeBartolo plays Tenor Sax-Soprano Sax- Flute-Vocals. Her band 'Seeker' plays original music and select standards.

The big jump to New York City was in 1997. I previously lived in Chicago, Florida, & Washington DC.

During the first few months in nyc I somehow found myself subbing at a big band rehearsal which led to playing in Charlie Persip's Supersound Band for 3 years. Sitting next to Todd Bayshore (amazing alto sax
player) was the most inspiring and demoralizing experience I've ever had in my life! It was a 'put up or shut up' experience. Since then it's been one long lesson in playing, writing, listening, learning.

I play in a few modern big bands, my favorite is the Bob Rosen's Meetinghouse Orchestra which features the music of Todd Anderson. The band is chock full of great players like Todd Anderson (tenor sax), Chris Parrello, Mike Campenni, Ian Young, Bob Rosen, Art Baron, Leo Ball, and many others. In addition, I work with many other jazz leaders/composers/arrangers, big bands in the city and beyond.

My 'other' musical persona is deep into the rock/folk scene in New York, currently working with alot of singer/songwriters . I am ENEMY
#3 in the NYC based rock group 'spottiswoode & his enemies'. We're going on our 10th year this November!

My own jazz project is called "seeker" ...we play a mix of original music and jazz standards.

I'm also a participating composer in the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop directed by Jim McNeely, Mike Abene and Mike Holober.

More about Garage Restaurant
Garage Restaurant
The building was established in the 1920's as an automobile garage. The Garage logo is derived from the original mosaic embedded in the front of the building. In the 1940's and 50's, the space was called The Nut Club, a cabaret that was a forerunner of the comedy clubs of today, with entertainers such as Jackie Gleason performing on stage. From 1969 to the early 1990's the Circle Repertory Company, an off-Broadway theater troupe, used the space as their theater (featuring early performances by actors Danny Aiello, Alec Baldwin, William Hurt and Demi Moore). On June 14, 1995, Garage opened to rave reviews.
